Trapdoor Coffee was bootstrapped from zero to six-figures in revenue over the course of four years. It started as a fun at-home hobby, but quickly ballooned into a profitable side business. We roasted and shipped coffee weekly for 200+ weeks straight. It was time-consuming, challenging, memorable, and fun. In other words, we learned a lot.

Our coffee was sold in one boutique grocery store for 3+ years, featured in over a dozen cafes, and shipped to over two-thousand online customers.

We shuttered the business in early 2020 for personal reasons – we wanted our time and sanity back. And although we closed the business, we did so on a high note, which made the ending a little bittersweet.

Despite the closure, I'm still roasting coffee and continuing to learn. I hope to get back into the coffee business one day, possibly with another side project, but for now I'll enjoy my roasting and brewing experiments at home.
